Au Revoir Simone is what you get when you cross 3 girls with pretty voices; 3 synths; a good dose of dreamy imagination and then add in some Williamsburg, Brooklyn for good measure. The group was formed in 2003 and is made up of Erika Forster, Heather D’Angelo and Annie Hart. They take their band’s name from a line by Pee-Wee Herman in Tim Burton’s movie Pee-Wee Herman’s Big Adventure. All 3 girls provide vocals and play the keyboards. This makes for some great harmonies and a musical style that is apologetically girlie. They have provided music for various soundtracks including Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty and the French movie Anna M. Their latest video for Sad Song is really cute. Check it out below.
Stay Golden is my favourite song of theirs and it’s off their album ‘The Bird of Music’.
Au Revoir Simone are touring now. I looking forward to seeing their concert in Copenhagen on the 1st of May. You can expect to hear a lot more from them. But check out their website and MySpace if you want to hear more from them now.
